I sure hope it fits Ms. Riley Grace. I didn't have a model so I've got my fingers crossed. I love the colors in this fiber; very pretty combination.

train knitting??

train knitting??
NOT! Oy vey! The Amtrak's California Zephyr is not running due to flooding between Chicago and Denver. SO here I am. Knitting at Firestone while waiting for a new car battery. I was gonna console myself today by driving to Maynard, AR to spin and knit with a group of fine fiber folks. I don't know these people you understand but we all know they're fine folks, being fiber-inclined and all. SO once I get this new battery, there's no telling what I'll do. There's just nothing like waking up to a dead battery. Crap.
Maybe the first thing I'll do is work on my attitude;-). Hahahahahahahaha!

Quinky Dink

I don't know if any of you have been keeping up with the life of Charlie the Coyote but today's picture is just so damned cute.   Thankfully Charlie is not out on the loose and of course the lamb is a stuffed toy!

All in favor of today being Friday, raise your hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Good grief, it took forever getting here and Monday morning will be here before I know it.  Short week for me next week though as I'll be on a train to Denver.  I'm really looking forward to my train adventure and hope, hope, hope it's not a miserable experience.  It's gonna be a lonnnnnng ride but armed with a couple of books, lots of knitting and an iPod, it should be quasi productive?

I hope your work days ZIPS and that your weekend is chock full o'fun!

HAPPY TYDTWD!!!!!

Just in case you work in an environment that allows such, THIS looks like a very cool thing to do!  I would have loved to bring my puppy today and I even talked to her about it before I left but she seemed pretty content right where she was.  On my bed.  Yeah nice way to spend a dreary, cloudy Friday.

Must_youShe didn't even offer to move over and make room for me!  Bitch.  I hope she manages to squeeze in a nap today, poor dear;-)

I have another painting project scheduled for this weekend since I've become Lil Ms DIY, HA!!  Then tomorrow I'd like to go over to Hardy for the 18th Annual Homesteader's Day  .  I'm pretty sure Penny will be there to demonstrate spinning and weaving and there's no telling what other crafts may be represented.

I do need to trim shrubs, pull weeds, mulch and all that other stuff so we'll see what I decide.  Or what I feel up to after the painting!  Why are the weekends so darned short????

Oh the JOY!

Of home ownership.  Not long before bedtime last night, I was at my kitchen sink when I thought I smelled something bad.  Hmmm.  It seemed to be coming from underneath the sink.  I opened the cupboard door and the smell was very strong but all looked ok.  Well, as far as I could see that is.  I tend to use the products that are right in the front line, next to the door.  As I slowly began to take out all the junk cleaning products and such, I could not only smell but SEE trouble.  Oy vey! Sink I have a leak!  And it's been going on for a while as you can see from the photo.  The entire floor of the cabinet is rotted and has separated from the back wall of the unit.  I have no idea how long this has been going on but what a revolting development.  I managed to clean it all out and find the leak but had nothing with which to make a repair.  For today while I'm at work, it has a bowl under there to catch the water, and a fan blowing in to dry out the rotting wood.  Why can't things like this happen when the MFW (man from Wisconsin) is here?  Oh no, that would be TOO easy!

Drama Queen

Is this the saddest face you've ever seen?  Sad_puppy Yesterday when I was feeling lousy, Gina wanted to play and when I didn't jump on that opportunity, she sulked.   Such a sweetie but maybe a little spoiled...

Monday already??

How does that happen?  It can't be fair.  Or right.  Sheez.

Here's the weekend project:  Before_3 When I bought my house 6 years ago, it was painted this gray color which actually has a lot of blue in it too, just not so much in this picture.  I had vinyl siding installed on the house and it is a very pale, pale, green.  SO 6 years later, the back door still looked like this.  Something finally clicked in me and I couldn't stand it anymore.  I've never painted before so this was a bit of an adventure for me.  I got one coat on Friday night and then Saturday morning finished up with the second. No picture of the final product sans tape but even with the tape you can see what a big improvement this was.  So little time, effort and money; what took me so long!?! During I can't describe the pride.  DIY here I come!!;-)  Well, maybe not...

I did feel like I was on a roll however.  I also spun for more than 10 minutes Friday night, Saturday and yeseterday too.  If I keep this up I'll have to break down and give that plying thing a try.  Maybe.

Yesterday was pretty slow as I felt like hell, was in pain and thought I would faint a couple of times.  Don't know what that was all about but I have a call in to the doc and hope to see him this week.

I had 2 crockpots going in an effort to back away from the fast food.  I did very well last week, bringing my lunch every day and eating at home each evening.  The one exception was Friday when I had lunch with 3 co-workers but we did eat relatively healthy.  I have been thinking about stuffed cabbage for months but it's so much trouble, oy.  I found a recipe for mock stuffed cabbage and that was all the inspiration I needed.  I browned the beef, shredded a head of cabbage, added the other ingredients and in four hours, I had stuffed cabbage.  YUMMY. Cabbage The only problem is I should have used the larger pot for this recipe.  I ended up putting it on high for an hour so the cabbage would cook down more quickly and I could put in the rest of it.  This recipe is healthy, inexpensive and very tasty.  I'll be making more of this one for sure.  I also made Thai Chicken in another slow cooker but for some reason didn't get a picture.  It took a little longer to cook but just like the first one, the prep was very easy and fast.  And delicious!  Crock pots are the unsung heros of summer for sure!

So here we are, Monday morning.  My boss is on vacation so it should be quiet, just the way I like it.  I do have tons of year-end business to get finished before he returns so I'd better stay focused.  Right.

10 minutes/day

10 minutes/day
I think 10 minutes per day is an excellent plan. However how do you keep it down to 10 minutes? Once I'm at the wheel, it's like knitting; everything else gets forgotten. I tried the 10 minute thing for the last 2 days and my house is a mess. I have 2 full bobbins and a 3rd on the way though...;-) Hey, it's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
